Alexandre Dumas collection, 1830-1952.

Comprises three items dated [1832]: a fragment of Jules Janin's manuscript for La tour de Nesle based on that of Frédéric Gaillardet, Dumas's manuscript for the same play which incorporates one scene by Gaillardet as well as a passage by Janin, and a letter from Dumas to François Harel, manager of the Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin, Paris, who had requested Janin and then Dumas to polish for production Gaillardet's manuscript. Also included are an account by Prof. Marc Denkinger of the Romance Language Department, Univ. of Mich., dated [1939], concerning his research on Gaillardet and seeking purchase of three documents for his studies, and six essays on Dumas by Frank W. Reed, 1951-52.
